About

Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Kofi Honu was raised in Ghana, returning to the United States in 1992 to study architecture at Yale University.
The son of a chemical engineer and a modern dancer, Honu's artistic sensibility reflects a balance between precision and fluidity, structure and spontaneity. His work brings together geometric definition and expressive looseness, guided by a commitment to visual authenticity and a willingness to let the medium shape the creative process. Having spent part of his childhood in rural Ghana under the care of his paternal grandmother, Honu developed an early appreciation for the poetry and beauty found in the everyday rhythms of rural life.
Kofi Honu lives and works in Beltsville, Maryland.
